Media Coverage
Getting featured in the press is a great way to market your business to your ideal clients both locally and nationally and would be especially helpful when you’re still starting out as media coverage brings with it a degree of trust and credibility that you just don’t find from self promotion.
But how do you get featured in the press in the first place?
This may seem like quite an intimidating task at first but that is why I have invited Skye Ferguson onto the show for this episode. Skye is a PR coach who has helped many small businesses grow to their fullest potential through media coverage and now she wants to do the same for you. She has 10 years of experience in PR and communications and has worked in the UK and internationally with big brands so you’re definitely in good hands.
If you want to start finding ways to secure yourself a spot for media coverage (without it being an epic and overwhelming task), and start growing your audience then make sure not to miss out on all that Skye has to tell you in this episode!
Do you actively avoid PR because you just don’t know where to start? I know I have over the past few years because it can seem overwhelming.
As my guest today Skye Ferguson says, it can totally feel scary approaching editors, especially if you’ve ever watched the movie The Devil Wears Prada!
But here’s the thing, editors need us and we need them!
PR can be so valuable to our businesses. It gives us credibility that we can’t gain by just shouting about how great we are ourselves.
But here’s the thing to remember, PR is not your golden ticket to amass a squillion followers. It needs to become part of your marketing strategy and something that as with all marketing becomes a consistent part of your strategy.
As Skye says, “Ultimately PR is reputation, it’s thought leadership.”
If you want to hear how simple it is to get started, then tune into this episode for so much great advice on getting started, the pitfalls to avoid and how to use both local and national press to your advantage!
